As the UNC football program looks to add some playmakers, one just so happens to be making an official visit to Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
The former Michigan State wide receiver hit the transfer portal on December 6th and would be a big addition to Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels next season if he commits to North Carolina. Johnson was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class from Richmond, Virginia, and was ranked as the No. 36 player in Virginia for his class. He redshirted after four games his first season at Michigan State but saw more time this season for the Spartans.
The 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver had 16 catches during the 2024 season, finishing with 276 receiving yards while finding the end zone twice. Johnson ranked fourth on the team in receiving yards and tied for third in touchdowns.
Johnson was recruited back in 2022 by the Tar Heels' previous staff. Although Johnson never had an official visit to Chapel Hill. Johnson will have three years left of eligibility. Johnson is a great route runner and shows significant speed. His 52-yard touchdown catch at No. 20 Illinois this year showcased both of those traits. Johnson would be an excellent pick-up for Belichick and the Tar Heels as he visits North Carolina tomorrow.
