Drake Maye celebrates Halloween with pediatric cancer patients

Spooky as well as spectacular, the former Tar Heel is planting roots in New England.

Former UNC football program star and current starting quarterback for the New England Patriots Drake Maye, along with Mack Hollins and several other New England Patriots and Revolution players, all showed up to Gillette Stadium for a Halloween party benefitting local pediatric cancer patients.

What a treat it must have been for these kids who are battling awful diseases at such a young age to see some of their local sporting heroes. Drake Maye came dressed as Dragonite, the final evolution variant of Dratini in Pokémon. This is perhaps a nod to the incredible sophomore season he's having in the NFL. In just eight games, he's nearly eclipsed his rookie season totals in passing yards and quarterback rating, and has equaled his touchdown pass total at 15. He has essentially bypassed the Dragonair step in his evolution and has become an elite NFL passer.

Preparation for this Sunday's game against Atlanta shouldn't be that intense since the Falcons suck, so taking time to visit sick kids is a great way to get involved with the community. Fellow Tar Heel Mack Hollins came as Toad in his Mario Kart rig, complete with no shoes, as Hollins likes to roll. No judgment.

Hopefully, this Halloween goodwill will rub off on the Tar Heels as they travel to Syracuse to play on Friday night. The last time UNC was on the road on Halloween was a spooky loss to Virginia, so hopefully it'll be treats and not tricks this year.
