The UNC football program has been busy in the transfer portal and according to 247 Sports, are now the favorite to land CJ Mims.
Mims is a former three star prospect from the class of 2022. He played the past two seasons at East Carolina before hitting the transfer portal this offseason. Mims committed to Wake Forest earlier this week but after head coach Dave Clawson stepped down, Mims has re-entered the portal.

The 6-foot-2, 296-pound defensive lineman would be a great addition for the Tar Heels. Mims had 14 total tackles his freshman season including 0.5 sacks and a forced fumble. In his sophomore season he added 23 total tackles with 4 solo tackles. Mims also had 1.5 sacks and another forced fumble. CJ Mims best game came against North Texas where he had 3 solo tackles, 1 sack and a forced fumble.
CJ Mims is from Vanceboro, North Carolina and could be a big piece to the Tar Heel defensive line. Having this Crystal Ball prediction from 247 Sports is a good sign for North Carolina. Bill Belichick and North Carolina are looking to build a strong defense and this could be a great step towards it.
