Almost immediately after the heartbreaking end to the season for UNC and Scott Forbes, some unfortunate rumors started popping up surrounding freshman righty Caden Glauber. Arguably one of the best young arms in the country, Glauber was dominant this season, but worry arrived that he could enter the transfer portal.
Thankfully, that was never going to happen. It didn't take long at all for North Carolina to confirm that Glauber was going to suit up in Chapel Hill next campaign for the Diamond Heels. In a recent interview with Inside Carolina too, Glauber's dad doubled down on the family being locked in with UNC, making it more than clear there was never anything behind some of the speculation surrounding his son.

Leave it to Glauber's dad to make this latest development even better for the Heels and Forbes. The young stud was downright sensational in 2026, taking home several postseason honors. The list included being a First-Team All ACC member, while D1Baseball named him their National Freshman of the Year.
Throughout the season, the freshman tossed 92 innings, giving up only 60 hits. On top of that, he struck out 114 batters, while posting a fantastic 2.05 ERA. The fact that this kid is only 18 years old makes things even more impressive for him, while also speaking to the tremendous future he has with the program.
We don't want to get too heavy into rumors, but there was word that LSU was looking to get him to transfer. You can be the judge of that, but it was made more than clear that Forbes and his staff wasted no time in reminding Glauber how important he is to the program, not willing to risk losing him to the portal.
Glauber played a massive role in North Carolina almost making history this season, as the Tar Heels reached the College World Series Championship Series, with plenty of signs pointing to the team winning it all for the first time ever. Unfortunately, the Oklahoma Sooners had other ideas, winning the decisive game to break hearts everywhere.
While that loss strings, and it will continue to hurt for a little while longer, Forbes is focused on getting Carolina over the hump sooner rather than later. The pieces are in place for the Tar Heels to be impressive once again in 2027, with Glauber's return no question being massive. What will he have for an encore during his highly-anticipated sophomore season? We can't wait to find out, but we'll know for sure that he'll be suiting up in Carolina blue, doing so with passion and excitement to represent the university.
