North Carolina is expanding its quarterback board a bit and a new name has made the cut.

Noah Spinks, a left-handed thrower from Humble, Texas, has locked in an official visit to Chapel Hill for the first weekend in June. Spinks is not rated by any of the recruiting sites and will be trying to get his name out there by throwing for schools over the summer. His offer from the Tar Heels joins a group of offers from mostly G5/6 programs.

North Carolina offers left-handed QB Noah Spinks

This is a situation where I think the Tar Heels staff feels good about an evaluation on film and is hoping to get ahead of potential P4 competition that could come hunting for Spinks over the next few months. Getting him on campus in an official capacity shows that offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino feels pretty good about what he's seen.

It's understandable that some fans are a little concerned about Tar Heels recruiting right now. It's been pretty quiet in the football building, and it's been nearly a month since three-star running back Isaiah Stephens and three-star linebacker Tasheem Butler became the third and fourth members of the class. Now it looks like North Carolina is pushing for a signal-caller that wasn't even on the camp circuit in the spring. However, Petrino still knows quarterbacks and the coach has a long line of players at the position that have performed at a high level despite not being top recruits.

What other QBs are on UNC's radar?

Before expanding the board even further with Spinks, North Carolina had a pretty wide umbrella in search for an arm in the 2027 class before players started coming off the board. Three-star prospect Dre'mail Carothers was offered at the beginning of March and is planning an official visit for the end of May. The competition for Carothers is tough because Louisville is in the picture, and they are just 100 miles down the road from his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Another three-star prospect, Brayden Santibanez, has an official visit scheduled for June 19. He also has Maryland and Iowa in the picture. By adding Spinks to this mix, the Tar Heels are putting themselves in a position to land one of these three players during this summer recruiting period. Spinks having UNC as his top school sure has people talking too.
