Bill Belichick has been hitting the road in North Carolina, visiting various different high schools containing elite prospects who could end up playing for UNC's football program.
Leo Delaney of Providence Day School located in Charlotte, North Carolina had positive words to say following his meeting with Belichick.
And Belichick did not disappoint, by any means.
Per On3Recruits on X (formerly Twitter), Delaney spoke on Belichick's plan on bringing in experienced coaches. As of late, Belichick has brought on Chris Jones to become the defensive assistant on staff. Jones' previous gigs have been found through various levels such as the NCAA, NFL and the CFL β a well-traveled guy, in other words.
Belichick's appeal for recruits comes from the coaches he will be surrounded by, considering more than likely those guys would have had a taste of the NFL already β the goal many prospects have in mind. The more Belichick keeps on bulking his staff with talent, the harder it will be for future players to play anywhere else but Chapel Hill.
Delaney stands at 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds. He is listed No. 61 nationally and No. 4 at his position as well as the No. 6 overall recruit in North Carolina, per 247Sports. Besides UNC, he holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke and Charlotte.
North Carolina has taken a chance on Belichick despite it being late in his coaching career but it looks like its paying off so far β to make things better would be the results on the football field. However, what's happening right now and recently will suffice.
Surely, there will be more recruits who are going to have similar reactions like Delaney but it should not be a surprise when arguably the greatest coach in football history is standing in front of them.
Imagine being a high schooler, 17 or 18-years-old, talking to a Super Bowl winning coach β that sounds hard to pass on.
