UNC basketball program legend, national champion, NBA veteran, and host of the wildly successful podcast "Run Your Race" Theo Pinson is coming to a college basketball game near you.
Pinson will be on color commentary alongside play-by-play man Doug Sherman on Sunday, December 22nd for the Virginia vs. American game. He will also be involved in the Georgia Tech game at SMU on January 11th.
Theo Pinson spent four years in Chapel Hill playing for Roy Williams. He was a member of the 2017 national championship team that cut the nets down in Phoenix, Arizona, which was made even sweeter as he also suffered with the 2016 team that lost in the title game on a buzzer-beater to Villanova. To say he's run the gamut of Tar Heel experiences is an understatement.
For his career, he averaged 6.2 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game. Those stats may seem a bit underwhelming, but Pinson was not a gunner and was happy to facilitate ball movement on a team with Joel Berry as a point guard, and Justin Jackson as a go-to scorer. Pinson was the oil that kept the machine running at optimal levels.
That's not to say he couldn't put it down when called upon...
After an NBA career that vacillated between Dallas, New York, Brooklyn, and their G-League affiliates, Theo Pinson has now broken through into the media network. His podcast "Run Your Race" has been a huge hit, and regularly has top guests that Theo breaks down with his gift of gab. Pinson's specialty is getting his NBA alum guests to admit how they wanted to commit to North Carolina before circumstance forced them in a different direction.
Obviously, Pinson's language will have to be cleaner on the ACC Network, but there's no doubt that he will be comfortable in front of the camera and mic.
Here's to some hijinks and Tar Heel magic!
