Former five-star recruit Nyland Green has entered the transfer portal, as the UNC football program is linked to the former Georgia Bulldog.

Nyland Green played in 13 games for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2023 but has decided to test the transfer portal this offseason.

The redshirt sophomore recorded seven tackles and one pass deflection in those games but lost the starting job to Kamari Lassiter, resulting in less playing time. As part of the Class of 2021, Green was the No.126-ranked player in the country.

After a very underwhelming 2023 season on the defensive side of the ball, the UNC football program is among the top suitors for his services. The team allowed the third-most yards per game with 389, 226 of which came through the air, which was the most allowed in the ACC.

Green’s length can certainly help fix some of these problems. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound corner was a star at Newton County High School in Georgia. He expected to get playing time right away at Georgia, but, as we know, the Bulldogs are known for their amazing defenses. The Georgia football program has produced multiple first-round draft picks in the last few seasons, and their defense helped them win back-to-back national titles.

Nyland Green could make a huge impact on the UNC football program, but Arkansas and UCF are also talking to Green.

Can Green be an addition to the UNC football program’s secondary this offseason?
