On his weekly podcast, former UNC Basketball player Justin Jackson recognized Elliot Cadeau’s play on how he fits into the 2023-2024 Tar Heels.

Reclassified UNC basketball point guard Elliot Cadeau is beginning to elevate his game after an adjustment period to the collegiate level, and former Tar Heel Justin Jackson is taking notice.

On his most recent episode of Shooting It Straight on InsideCarolina, Jackson spoke on Cadeau’s recent play and the impact it has on the 2023-2024 Tar Heels.

On his podcast, Jackson mentions that Cadeau has put his stamp on this team and knows his role as he has entered the starting lineup the previous two games while also seeing increased minutes each game.

Even the current players have taken notice of Cadeau’s passing ability and spoken about how impactful he is and how much more it makes them want to move to get open because they have confidence Cadeau will find the open man.

Cadeau, like any freshman, had an obvious adjustment period to college basketball and was coming off the bench for the first time in his basketball career. During the first three games of the season, Cadeau had eight assists and 8 turnovers, a 1:1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

However, since then, in the last four games, Cadeau has elevated his level of play against quality competition. Against Northern Iowa, Villanova, Arkansas, and Tennessee, Cadeau has 21 assists and just one turnover, including a career-high 10 against the Volunteers (The No. 1 defensive efficiency team in the country per KenPom).

Most freshmen require time to develop and adjust to the college game, much less a reclassified freshman. Cadeau is still learning, but at an extremely quick rate that UNC Basketball fans are enjoying watching him grow up right in front of our eyes, so much so that even former players such as Jackson are taking notice too.
