UNC Football: Peppers Semifinalist for NFL Hall of Fame
By Jordan Falls
Former UNC Football star Julius Peppers had a lengthy NFL career and, with his accomplishments, has now been named a semifinalist for the NFL Hall of Fame.
Julius Peppers is one of the greatest defensive players in UNC Football history and, arguably, the NFL as well.
Peppers was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and had a lengthy career in the National Football League, playing for three teams (Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers) from 2002 until 2018.
Spending most of his career in his home state with the Carolina Panthers, Peppers put together an impressive resume of accolades, including most recently being added to the Carolina Panthers Hall of Honor this fall.
As a result of his accomplishments in the NFL, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced its 25 modern-era semifinalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2024, and Peppers made the list in his first year being eligible (players are only eligible after being out of the league for five consecutive seasons).
Peppers joins Antonio Gates as the only other player to be named a semifinalist in their first year of eligibility for the Class of 2024. The list of 25 players will be reduced to 15 finalists before the final voting process is set to begin.
The Class of 2024 Hall of Fame will be decided before Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas and announced live on the NFL Honors telecast on February 8th. To view the list of 25 semifinalists and learn more about the Pro Football Hall of Fame process, please click here.
