Head UNC Basketball Coach Hubert Davis spoke to the media on Tuesday ahead of the SEC/ACC Challenge and provided some key injury updates.

As the UNC Basketball program returns home from a 2-1 trip in the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis and prepares for a top-20 matchup in the Dean E. Smith Center, the main concern is the health and status of senior guard Cormac Ryan. Ryan was injured in the final seconds of the two-point overtime loss to Villanova and did not play on Friday versus Arkansas.

Head Coach Hubert Davis spoke on Ryan’s status and potential availability versus the No. 10 ranked Volunteers for Wednesday night during his regularly scheduled pre-game press conference.

The Tar Heels were able to pull out a victory against Arkansas on Friday without Ryan, but they would certainly love to have him available against a challenging Tennessee team that is No. 1 in the country in KenPom Defensive efficiency. Davis also addressed the challenging upcoming schedule for UNC Basketball, which is currently scheduled to face four top-25 opponents in their next five games.

The matchup with Tennessee will be the first in the ACC/SEC Challenge and the fourth time in the last decade that a top-10 non-conference opponent has entered the Smith Center. Tip is currently scheduled for 7:15 PM on ESPN.
