National Championships

I mean, we had to mention this one, right? It’s not a player or a person but a collective of great teams that have come together to create a culture of winning National Championships. North Carolina Tar Heels fans have to be thankful for this. We have one of the greatest athletic departments in the entire country and the rich history of winning championships at the conference and national level can’t be taken for granted.

The UNC Athletics Department has won fifty (50) team National Titles throughout its history, including the UNC Field Hockey National Championship most recently. That is seventeen (17) more than any other ACC school. Some schools are “football schools,” some schools are “basketball schools,” the University of North Carolina is an everything school.

How often do the Tar Heels win a National Championship? Well, pretty often…

An incredible stat and something to be thankful for as North Carolina Tar Heels fans. So, as you gather around to eat your turkey with family and friends, don’t forget the people and things that we should be thankful for in Chapel Hill, too.
