Armando Bacot

While the career of Armando Bacot has had its ups and downs, there is still plenty to be written in his story. However, North Carolina Tar Heels fans have plenty to be thankful for with Bacot and his time spent on the hardwood in Chapel Hill.

Bacot set the double-double and rebounding record last spring during his senior year. This year, he has already passed UNC Basketball legend Walter Davis for 10th all-time on the scoring list. And while we recognize that Bacot is in his fifth year of eligibility (thanks to COVID), the numbers he is putting up during his career are still impressive.

During his time as a Tar Heel, he has played in 135 total games, and barring an injury, when his career is complete, he will have played the most games in a Tar Heel uniform. During those games, he has averaged 27.6 minutes per game and a double-double, with 13.9 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.

He was a crucial factor in the Tar Heels National Championship run in 2022 and is a leader on this year’s 2023-2024 UNC Basketball team. Not only with his stats, but the fact that he has been in Chapel Hill for five seasons now is something to be thankful for in the day and age of the one-and-done era of college basketball and the transfer portal.

The Tar Heels will be playing on Thanksgiving Day, and UNC Basketball fans will hopefully be reminded why they are so thankful that No. 5 is wearing Carolina Blue.
