The UNC Basketball team put together a nice first half against UC Riverside, including this highlight reel defense to offense fast break.
One emphasis this off-season for the UNC Basketball program and Hubert Davis has been defense and getting back to being efficient on fast breaks. Those two things go hand-in-hand, as fast breaks typically come from great play on the defensive end of the court.
On Friday night versus UC Riverside, Jae’lyn Withers made a great defensive play that led to an “old-school” Carolina Basketball fast-break style play, including the basketball only touching the floor one time in the front court.

Impressive block by Withers and a more impressive dunk by Seth Trimble. What most people may not realize when watching this play for the first time is that RJ Davis made an AMAZING full-court bounce pass.
UNC Basketball Twitter reacted appropriately to the play:
Jae'lyn Withers powerful block on one end.

Seth Trimble thunderous dunk on the other.
BUT WATCH THE ONE-HANDED, 3/4-COURT RJ DAVIS PASS IN BETWEEN.

It was most definitely a beautiful sequence of Carolina basketball and one that UNC Basketball fans hope to witness for the entirety of the 2023-2024 basketball season. The Tar Heels are out and running on the fast break early this season and doing so more than what it feels like they have done the last two years.
