The UNC Football program has announced its Players of the Game from the 47-45 double-overtime victory over the Duke Blue Devils.

The UNC Football program moved to 8-2 following a huge 47-45 double-overtime victory over rival Duke on Saturday night. Several players stood out from Saturday’s game against the Blue Devils and made key plays to propel the Tar Heels to victory.

Here are the Players of the Game from the UNC Football coaching staff.

Offensively, there were several candidates for this one. Drake Maye was 28/43 for 342 yards, a passing touchdown, and two rushing touchdowns. Omarion Hampton had 31 carries for 169 yards and a touchdown.

However, one player made two pivotal plays in the Tar Heels, having a chance to win the game: Bryson Nesbit. Nesbit is the offensive player of the game. He made a controversial catch in triple coverage that could have been an interception but held onto the football until he went to the ground, retaining possession.

He had a total of seven catches for 68 yards and a touchdown that gave the Tar Heels a 33-29 lead with under two minutes to play.

Defensively, Myles Murphy was awarded the player of the game. He had three tackles and a sack but proved to give the Duke offensive line problems upfront. Murphy had two tackles for loss that helped give the Blue Devil running game problems.

The special teams unit player of the game provided arguably the Most Valuable Player of the entire game and gave the UNC Football team a chance to win, even up until the final second of regulation. The special teams player of the game was Noah Burnette. Burnette was six-for-six on field goal attempts and three-for-three on extra points. His longest attempt of the night was the game-tying 43-yarder with no time remaining.

Without Burnette’s performance, the Tar Heels arguably aren’t in a position to win the game against the Blue Devils.
