Former UNC Football teammates Sam Howell and Dyami Brown connected for a late touchdown to tie the Commanders-Seahawks game.

Former UNC Football quarterback Sam Howell played one season without wide receiver Dyami Brown during his time in Chapel Hill. Brown was a junior when Howell was a sophomore and decided to forgo his senior season of college after back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons to prepare for the NFL Draft.

Brown was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. A year later, Brown and Howell were re-united as the Commanders took Howell in the fifth round with the 144th pick.

In yesterday’s Commanders-Seahawks game, the former UNC Football duo connected again just as they did several times in Chapel Hill, this one was for the game-tying touchdown with under a minute to play.

Howell found Brown on a dig route on third and ten with 52 seconds remaining in the game. Brown caught the pass at the Seahawks 17-yard line and proceeded to find his way into the endzone for the 35-yard touchdown reception.

The Seahawks would end up driving 50 yards in the remaining time to set up a game-winning 43-yard field goal from kicker Jason Meyers and beat the Commanders 29-26.

If he hadn’t already done so, Howell is making his case to be the next franchise quarterback for the Washington Commanders. Despite being one of the most sacked quarterbacks in the league, Howell is putting up some ridiculous numbers, including leading the NFL in passing yards and completions.
