For the first time this season, the UNC Football program has entered the College Football Playoff Rankings during the week two release.

After the first release of the College Football Playoff Rankings last week, the UNC Football program didn’t find themselves in the rankings following two consecutive losses to Virginia and Georgia Tech.

However, in week two of the latest rankings, and following a 59-7 victory over FCS Opponent Campbell, the Tar Heels entered into the rankings this week. Where did they find themselves ranked with the committee?

The College Football Playoff rankings committee ranked the UNC Football program at No. 24 this week heading into their matchup with Duke. While the teams near the top of the rankings are striving to enter the four-team College Football Playoff, the Tar Heels still have much to play for, and the rankings could have an impact on their bowl selection.

If the ACC Champion, projected to be Florida State, gets invited to the College Football Playoff, then the next highest-ranked ACC team in the College Football Playoff Rankings would be invited to attend the Orange Bowl and participate in the New Year’s Six Bowl game.

Currently, the Tar Heels are the third-highest ACC team, behind No. 4 Florida State and No. 11 Louisville. The College Football Playoff Rankings will be released every week on Tuesday night between now and Tuesday, November 28th, with the final rankings being released on Sunday, December 3rd.

The UNC Football program will host Duke on Saturday, November 11th, at 8:00 PM for Senior Day and the Battle for the Victory Bell. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
