Future Class of 2024 UNC Basketball Commit Ian Jackson has announced he intends to sign his National Letter of Intent this weekend.

The early National Signing Period for college basketball opens up on Wednesday, November 8th, and closes on Wednesday, November 15th. During that period, top UNC Basketball commit Ian Jackson is reportedly planning to sign his National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Saturday, November 11th.

The announcement of Jackson planning to sign his National Letter of Intent comes just a few days after his official visit to Chapel Hill.

Jackson has been at the focal point of several discussions in the recruiting landscape of potentially decommitting to the UNC Basketball program to re-open his recruitment and explore the possibility of attending other schools, most notably St. John’s.

While the signing of a National Letter of Intent doesn’t completely lock Jackson into attending North Carolina, it does get him one step closer. Players often de-commit after signing NLIs. However, Jackson has been adamant time and time again that he intends to stay committed and play for the Tar Heels next season.

Jackson is currently ranked by 247Sports as the No. 10 player in the Class of 2024 and is part of a UNC Basketball class ranked third in the country, joining five-star Drake Powell (No. 4 overall) and four-star James Brown (No. 91 overall).

At this time, it is unknown when Powell and Brown plan to sign their NLIs. The second signing period is from April 17, 2024, until May 15, 2024.
