UNC Football: Team Captains Announced Versus Campbell
By Jordan Falls
The UNC Football program has announced its team captains for the ninth game of the season versus Campbell.
As the UNC Football program prepares to step out of Atlantic Coast Conference play for the final time during the 2023 season and host FCS Opponent Campbell, the program announced its team captains for today’s matchup.
For the offensive side of the ball, the Tar Heels team captain will be star quarterback Drake Maye. Maye is completing 65 percent of his passes this year, throwing for 2,559 yards and 16 touchdowns through the first eight games.
Defensively, Kaimon Rucker is having a phenomenal season and has earned team captain honors for that unit today versus the Camels. Rucker is third on the team in tackles with 40 and leads all players with 7.5 sacks on the season.
The special teams unit, who has had some struggles of late on covering kickoffs and protecting punts, will look to get back on track and former UNC Football running back converted defensive back DJ Jones will be the team captain for today’s matchup.
Once again, the UNC Football program will have an honorary captain today in honor of Military Appreciation Day. Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Charlton Warren will be the honorary team captain today. Check out this feature on Charlton here.
