While UNC Football was facing off against FCS Opponent Campbell, the Tar Heels were winning off the field, too, receiving a commitment for 2024.

On Saturday, during the first half of the UNC Football game versus FCS Opponent Campbell, the Tar Heels were winning on the field 28-7. Many fans may not have realized during the game that the Tar Heels were winning off the field, too, in the recruiting battle.

Leroy Jackson, a three-star defensive lineman from Leesburg, Georgia, announced his commitment to the UNC Football program. Jackson becomes the 27th, and likely final, commitment for Mack Brown’s staff for the Class of 2024.

According to 247 Sports, the Tar Heels 2024 recruiting class currently ranks 27th in the country, with a total of eight four-star recruits. Jackson’s commitment to the Tar Heels comes just two months after receiving an official scholarship offer in September and less than a month after his official visit, which was on October 14th when the Tar Heels hosted Miami.

Mack Brown took to social media following the win regarding Jackson’s commitment.

The Tar Heels out-recruited Iowa State, Appalachian State, and Georgia State to gain the commitment from the six-foot-two defensive lineman along with the Miami Hurricanes, who joined the recruiting party late.

This will help replenish a depth position among the front seven that is expected to lose a lot of talent to graduation over the next several years.
