UNC Basketball: Bacot On NABC Player of Year Watch List
By Jordan Falls
The fifth-year big man for the UNC Basketball program has been named to the NABC Player of the Year Watch List for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.
Armando Bacot enters his fifth and final season with the UNC Basketball program. During his first four years, he has broken several records and had plenty of success. That success on the court has earned him several preseason honors this offseason, heading into the 2023-2024 college basketball season.
Bacot can add another award to his preseason list as he has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Player of the Year Watch List.
The NABC Player of the Year Award is voted on at the end of each college basketball season by a vote of every Division I college basketball head coach in the country, with the winner being selected and announced during the week before the Final Four.
Bacot has averaged a double-double in his last two seasons for the Tar Heels, and another dominant season could put him in line to be a finalist or win the National Association of Basketball Coaches Player of the Year Award.
The last UNC Basketball player to win the NABC Player of the Year Award came in 2008 when Tyler Hansbrough won.
The NABC Player of the Year Watch List for the 2023-2024 season consists of 20 players from across college basketball. Several schools, including Creighton, Duke, and USC, have multiple players on the watch list.
