On Thursday afternoon, the UNC Football program received news that Tez Walker had been granted immediate eligibility. How did social media react?
Out of absolutely nowhere, the NCAA has made UNC football transfer wide receiver Tez Walker eligible upon recovering “new information.” Social media erupted with joy when the news was released shortly after lunchtime on Thursday afternoon, and I’m not sure many people are happier than star quarterback Drake Maye.

Several other UNC football players took to social media to celebrate the news as well…

And, of course, the fans and other members of the media rejoiced with the news that Walker is finally eligible and also recognized the fact that the UNC football program is receiving a huge boost offensively after beginning the season 4-0.
WR Tez Walker meets the qualifications for a transfer waiver and is immediately available for UNC. MASSIVE addition for Tar Heels a month into season.

And the No. 9 now goes to Tez: "I can’t wait to put on that jersey, run out of the tunnel, and play in Kenan Stadium. I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time and now it will be a reality. See everyone on Saturday." #goheels pic.twitter.com/KInkIg7gaw

The ceiling is the roof for #UNC's offense this season...

The timeline for the final decision is open to criticism, but the Tar Heels went 4-0 without Walker, and the NCAA finally did the right thing. https://t.co/OWzE1LXAQn
holy shit let’s go win an ACC Championship……

Tez Walker’s immediate eligibility means he’s instantly the best player on UNC’s offense, outside of Drake Maye and the team got to this point still 4-0 with the opportunity to develop players in his absence.

There’s no shortage of recognition that the NCAA wronged Walker, the UNC football program, and the situation, either.
so standing up for a player when they’ve been wronged is a bad thing now??? on top of that, y’all placed the blame on us??? c’mon now NCAA. https://t.co/OPY5HqS2kL

Wonder if the “new information” was “so why are you clearing these similar situations and not ours.”

Again, NCAA releasing statements like this just gives further credence to the idea they wanted to make UNC an example. https://t.co/3eBim9r26o
Long overdue, but UNC WR Tez Walker has been deemed eligible by the NCAA and will play Saturday vs. Syracuse

And, of course, Walker’s reaction…

The important thing, though, is that Walker is eligible and will get to dress out for the Tar Heels on Saturday against Syracuse! And it is, indeed, a Great Day To Be A Tar Heel!
