North Carolina Tar Heels Week Preview: October 2-8

We are previewing the upcoming week for North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics from October 2, 2023, through October 8, 2023.

Field Hockey – The Tar Heels picked up a 4-1 win last week over Saint Joseph’s on Sunday and now head into October with an 8-1 record. This week, they will play two games inside the friendly confines of Karen Shelton Stadium. On Friday, October 6th, North Carolina will welcome ACC Foe Boston College to Chapel Hill for a 4:00 PM start. Then, on Sunday, October 8th, Liberty University will visit for a 2:00 PM game. Both matches will be on ACC Network Extra.

Football – Following their only bye week of the 2023 season, the undefeated Tar Heels are ranked in the top 15 of both polls this week. After a solid 41-24 road win at Pittsburgh, they will return home to Kenan Memorial Stadium this weekend to face 4-1 Syracuse. We will have plenty of coverage on the Orange heading into Saturday this week, so stay tuned for up-to-date information. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 PM and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Men’s Soccer – The Tar Heels enter October, still holding onto their undefeated record with a 4-0-4 record following a tie with the Pittsburgh Panthers last week. This week, they will host in-state nonconference opponent Elon on Tuesday, October 3rd, at 7:00 PM and then host ACC foe Syracuse on Friday, October 6th at 7:30 PM. The game versus the Phoenix will be on ACC Network Extra, while ACC Network will air the match versus the Orange.

Women’s Soccer – The No.1 ranked Tar Heels will look to continue to build on their success from last week after beating rival NC State 4-0. They are now 8-0-4 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play. This week, they will play two ACC opponents, hosting the Miami Hurricanes in Chapel Hill on Thursday, October 7th, and then traveling to rival Duke on Sunday, October 8th. The Miami game will kick off at 7:00 PM on ACC Network Extra, and the rivalry matchup with the Blue Devils will be on ACC Network at 4:00 PM.

Volleyball – The 7-6 Tar Heels will look to break their three-game losing streak this week, however, it won’t be getting any easier for North Carolina. No. 6 Louisville comes to Chapel Hill on Friday, October 6th. The Cardinals are 12-2 on the season, and will be a tough challenge for the Tar Heels. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Notre Dame will come to Chapel Hill on Sunday, October 8th. The Irish are 8-4 on the season and will face the Tar Heels are 1:00 PM. Both games are scheduled to be aired on ACC Network Extra.
