UNC Football commit rises in On300 Rankings update

UNC Football commit Malcolm Ziglar moves into the top five to number four at the safety positional rankings in the ‘On3’ On300 recruiting rankings.

Malcolm Ziglar, a UNC Football commit for the class of 2024, is ranked as a four-star recruit on On3 Sports rankings including being the No. 53 ranked player in the nation. He is also regarded as the fourth-best safety prospect as well as the top player from the state of North Carolina.

The future Tar Heel stands at 6-1.5, weighs 215 pounds, and is currently playing his senior year of football at Fuquay-Varina High School. Fuquay-Varina football has been dismal this season with a 1-4 record, with their lone win coming against Apex High School. Ziglar has been one of the lone highlights for the Bengals as he has provided many big plays including a forced fumble against Clayton.

During his junior year last season, Ziglar was credited with six interceptions, three interception returns for touchdowns, six pass breakups, and nine total touchdowns. He was named to the High School OT All-State Team last season as a junior, being surrounded by the best talent in the state of North Carolina.

Along with playing football Malcolm also runs track at Fuquay-Varina High School. During his junior year, during the spring track season, he ran junior 100-meter times of 10.79, 10.94, and 10.95.

On July 17th, 2023, Ziglar committed to North Carolina over Notre Dame and South Carolina on commitment day. He committed to the Tar Heels after his official visit to Chapel Hill on June 23rd, just a week after his official visit to Notre Dame. Ziglar holds 27 total college offers including those of Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, and more.

Along with being ranked a four-star on On3, 247 Sports also ranks Ziglar as a four-star and the 192nd player in the class of 2024. ESPN and Rivals rank Ziglar as a three-star in their respective rankings.
