The UNC Football program continued to build on its success in the 2023 season by beating Pittsburgh 41-24. How did the media rank the Tar Heels this week?

After beginning the 2023 season ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press Poll, the UNC football program is slowly rising in the rankings after beginning the first four weeks undefeated and 4-0. The Tar Heels saw a drop in the rankings after they escaped with an overtime win in week two against Appalachian State, but have since gained more respect from the national media.

After a slow start against the Pittsburgh Panthers and trailing 14-7, the Tar Heels went on a 28-3 run to put the game out of reach. How did the media react to ranking North Carolina following their 41-24 win at Pittsburgh?

For the first time since 1997, the UNC football program has begun the season 4-0. The Tar Heels jumped two spots in this week’s AP Poll rankings, going from No. 17 to No. 15. North Carolina heads into a bye week before a favorable October stretch of games that consists of three home games and a trip to Georgia Tech. UNC football is also ranked No. 15 in the Coaches Poll.

North Carolina will have a bye week before welcoming currently undefeated Syracuse to Chapel Hill on Saturday, October 7th. Game time and TV network are expected to be announced on Monday, September 25th.
