The UNC Football program will begin its 2023 conference portion of the schedule this evening against Pittsburgh. Who will be the team captains for the game?

The UNC football program announced its captains for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday, September 23rd. It will be no surprise to see one of the captains walk out for the coin toss for the Tar Heels.

On offense, star quarterback Drake Maye will be representing the Tar Heels as the unit’s team captain. Maye is coming off his best performance of the earlier 2023 season last week against Minnesota. Despite his two interceptions, he was 29/40 passing for 414 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Tar Heels player of the game against the Golden Gophers will be representing them on Saturday against the Panthers. Power Echols was phenomenal last weekend on defense, leading the team in tackles and coming up with an interception while Minnesota was in the red zone.

Junior Bryson Nesbit, who caught a touchdown pass last week, will be the special teams unit team captain representative for the UNC football program. The Tar Heels will be looking for another big week from the punt coverage team, and Nesbit will be looking to contribute to that performance.

You can find out more information about the upcoming game against the Panthers here. Kick-off is set for 8:00 PM on the ACC Network.
