UNC Men’s Golf: Tar Heels named to Haskins Award Watch List
By Jordan Falls
The UNC Men’s Golf program had several Tar Heels named to the 2023-2024 Haskins Award Watch List earlier this week, given to the top male collegiate golfer.
The UNC Men’s Golf program has had a great week early in the 2023-2024 season. First, a trio of Tar Heels helped propel the United States of America to a win at the Walker Cup. A few days later, three UNC Men’s golf team members were named to the Haskins Award Watch List.
Junior David Ford, Graduate Senior Austin Greaser, and Fifth-Year Senior Dylan Menante were all named to the Haskins Award Watch List for the upcoming season. The same trio of Tar Heels who earned their name on the Haskins Award Watch List is the same trio that had an impact at the Walker Cup.
The Haskins Award has been awarded annually to the National Men’s College Player of the Year since 1971. There are 24 college golfers named to the preseason watch list. Nine of the 24 players played a part in the Walker Cup victory for the United States. To learn more about the Haskins Award, click here.
Ford, Greaser, and Menante were also named to the Golfweek preseason All-American team following their nomination on the Haskins Award Watch List.
With three of the best players in the country, the UNC Men’s Golf program is also ranked pre-season No. 1 by the Golf Channel for the 2023-2024 season. The Tar Heels made the Final Four in 2022-2023 and hope to build off of last season’s great performance after returning all but one starter from last year’s team.
