UNC Football: Game Two Uniform Reveal vs Appalachian State
By Jordan Falls
UNC Football will kick off their 2023 home opener against Appalachian State on Saturday night. What will the Tar Heels be wearing?
In week one, the UNC football program went with a color rush, all Carolina Blue look against the South Carolina Gamecocks for their season opener under the lights in Charlotte. As with every game week, the Tar Heels announce their uniform combination for the upcoming game on Thursday before the game.
On Thursday this week, the Tar Heels revealed what they would be taking the field with for their home opener against the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
Carolina will wear a traditional home uniform look for its game against the Mountaineers, wearing white helmets, Carolina Blue jerseys, and white pants. This used to be the “normal” home look for the Tar Heels before various uniform combinations became more of the “norm” for the program and players.
The UNC football program last wore the white/blue/white combination in the season and home opener in 2022 when they faced Florida A&M University in Week Zero as part of the HBCU Celebration Game. In that game, the Tar Heels went on to beat the Rattlers 56-24 in Drake Maye’s debut, including outscoring FAMU 21-0 in the fourth quarter.
Mack Brown and the UNC football program are hopeful that this uniform combo can bring some more success on the field as the Tar Heels aim to improve to 2-0 on the early season.
The Tar Heels will host the Mountaineers (1-0) on Saturday, September 9th. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 PM and can be viewed on ACC Network.
