Former UNC football quarterback Sam Howell has been making connections with former UNC football wide receiver Dyami Brown during training camp.

Former UNC football quarterback Sam Howell has been getting settled in at Washington Commanders training camp and taking reps with the first team. He got the start in the team’s first 2023 NFL Preseason game against the Cleveland Browns last week and performed well.

Another former Tar Heel, Dyami Brown, is also on the Commanders’ roster but didn’t get any playing time with Howell in the first preseason contest. However, he did catch one pass for 14 yards while working with backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

This week in a joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens, the former Tar Heel teammates hooked up on a nice highlight play that is worthy of another look.

Howell makes a beautiful sidearm throw to find Brown in stride on a crossing route. Yes, this is just a practice, but still something that hopefully gets Brown more attention from the Commanders and of course, gives more reason for the franchise to believe in Howell as their QB1 heading into the 2023 season.

All UNC football fans got used to seeing this duo hook up a lot in 2019 and 2020 during their time spent together in Chapel Hill and hope to see much more of this during the NFL regular season moving forward.

The Commanders and Ravens will complete their week of joint practice with their second preseason game on Monday night, August 21st at 8:00 PM on ESPN.
