The UNC Women’s Basketball program will see two of their top commits for the next two recruiting classes compete in the Under Armour Elite 24 Showcase.

Since Courtney Banghart took over the UNC Women’s Basketball program, she has been working toward building a roster that is comprised of talent and depth.

Heading into year five, it feels like we are finally getting to that point and it shows with the level of recruiting she is achieving. Most recently she landed the No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2023, Ciera Toomey, over national power UConn.

Now she has future Tar Heel commits competing in the Under Armour Elite 24 Showcase which is reserved for the top 24 players in girls and boys high school basketball.

Five-star center Blanca Thomas, the No. 26 player in the 2024 class according to ESPN’s 2024 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings, was announced as part of TeamBreakThru. Thomas is a Charlotte Native and chose the Tar Heels over the likes of Notre Dame, Tennessee, Stanford, and South Carolina.

Joining Thomas on TeamBreakThru in the Under Armour Elite 24 Showcase is the No. 20 player in ESPN’s 2025 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings, five-star point guard Lanie Grant. Grant committed to the Tar Heels during her sophomore season of high school. She is currently the only commit in the Class of 2025 for Courtney Banghart.

You can find Thomas and Grant on the same team on Saturday, August 12th at 6:00 PM in the game in Atlanta, Georgia. The UA Elite 24 Showcase game will be broadcast on ESPNU. You can also catch Ian Jackson in the boys’ high school Under Armour Elite 24 Showcase at 8:00 PM on ESPNU.
