The UNC Baseball program was recently honored with an academic excellence award for the 2022-2023 academic year and their performance in the classroom.

The UNC baseball program earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award for last season’s success in the classroom.

The ABCA honors high schools and collegiate programs in the country with this award who accomplish a 3.0 GPA or higher. The Tar Heels were one of seven ACC programs that earned this award out of 450 schools nationwide.

This award is just another academic award to add to the 2022-2023 list for the Diamond Heels after having nine players named to the All-ACC Academic Team last spring. The 2023 UNC baseball program was successful on and off the field by making the NCAA Tournament and earning academic honors in the classroom with their high team GPA.

It’s great to see Scott Forbes’ team getting the job done on the field and in the classroom, as the Diamond Heels saw a ton of academic success during the 2022-2023 school year. The ACC was well-represented on this list, as it shows that the conference is dedicated to encouraging student-athletes to succeed in the classroom to help set them up for future success once their college careers come to a close.
