The UNC Women’s Basketball program has a 2025 commit announced as part of the USA Women’s Basketball U16 roster for this summer.

Head Coach Courtney Banghart has been doing a phenomenal job revitalizing the UNC Women’s Basketball program during her tenure in Chapel Hill through recruiting top high school talent. While the main focus is on the 2023-2024 team and their talent (the roster currently has six former five-star recruits), there are high expectations for the future.

While it is still early in the recruiting cycle, Banghart has already earned a commitment from one Class of 2025 recruit and the talent is showing out. Lanie Grant, a point guard from Virginia, is currently ranked No. 23 in ESPN’s HoopGurlz Terrific Top 25.

Grant has earned another honor this week to go along with her high recruiting ranking as she was named to the 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team.

The USA Women’s U16 National Team will be competing in Mexico from June 13 until June 19. More information regarding the FIBA U16 Americas Championship, including the full roster, can be found here.
