The UNC Baseball program has ended its regular season and conference tournament portion of the season and now awaits its NCAA Tournament destination.

The UNC Baseball team entered Saturday projected as the No. 2 seed in the Nashville regional with No. 5 National Seed Vanderbilt. The Diamond Heels matched up with the No. 3 seed Clemson Tigers in the ACC Tournament Semifinals, hoping to improve upon their current NCAA Tournament resume and potentially host a regional at Boshamer Stadium.

Unfortunately for the Tar Heels, the red-hot Tigers were too much to handle, and the Diamond Heels couldn’t advance to the ACC Championship game, dropping the game 10-4. Now, the UNC baseball program awaits to see where the NCAA Baseball Tournament Committee will send them in the first week of June for regional play. It’s almost guaranteed they will be a No. 2 seed for regional play.

The Sunday morning, May 28th, edition of D1Baseball’s Field of 64 projection places the Tar Heels in the Nashville regional as the No. 2 seed. Carolina joins No. 5 National Seed Vanderbilt, No. 3 seed Arizona State, and No. 4 seed Lipscomb. This projection is similar to the May 27th edition, except for No. 3 seed Kent State being replaced by Arizona State.

The hope is for the Diamond Heels to be placed in a regional close to home. The most likely options based on the latest Field of 64 projections are Auburn, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt.

So where will the UNC baseball program be headed for the first week of June? We will find out tomorrow. The NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for 12:00 PM Eastern time on Monday, May 29th, and can be watched live on ESPN2.
