We are previewing the upcoming week for North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics for the week of May 15, 2023, thru May 21, 2023.

Baseball – Coming off a 4-0 week, including an ACC series sweep over NC State, the Diamond Heels will have their hands full this week with many opportunities to take another step towards potentially hosting an NCAA Tournament Regional.

First up, Carolina will travel to No. 8 Coastal Carolina tonight at 6 PM. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. This will be the second meeting between the two programs this year. Carolina led the Chanticleers 7-4 going to the eighth inning in Chapel Hill and then proceeded to give up eight runs in the eighth and lost 12-7.

Another big weekend ACC series will follow. The Tar Heels will head to no. 7 Clemson for a three-game series to end the regular season. Carolina has secured their spot in the ACC Tournament, but now they can possibly win the Coastal Division heading into the series with the Tigers.

Games on Thursday and Friday will be at 6 PM on ACC Network Extra with the series finale, and the Tigers’ Senior Day, coming on Saturday at 1 PM on ACC Network.

Women’s Lacrosse – Looking for another trip to the Final Four, no. 4 seed Carolina will face no. 5 seed Denver in the NCAA Quarterfinal Round on Thursday at 5 PM. The Tar Heels are the host team and the game will be played at Dorrance Field. If you can’t make it to Chapel Hill, you can watch it on ESPNU.

Women’s Tennis – Also looking for a Final Four appearance, the top overall seed Tar Heels will face no. 8 seed Texas in the NCAA Quarterfinal Round on Wednesday at 5 PM in Orlando, Florida. The match will take play on the USTA campus. Last year, Texas knocked out the top-seed Tar Heels in the Final Four before going on to win the National Championship. Carolina will be seeking revenge this season and looking to continue to prove they are, and have been, the best team all season.
