Kenan Stadium, home of the UNC football program, has officially sold out the international soccer match that will be played this summer.

In mid-April, it was announced that UNC football’s home, Kenan Stadium, would host Wrexham AFC and Chelsea FC.

As previously mentioned, it is a historic event for two clubs of this magnitude to meet on neutral soil. Group and single-match tickets went on sale to the general public on Thursday, April 27th. And they weren’t available for long…

The 51,000-seat Kenan Stadium sold out in just four days, showing how much excitement is around this historic match. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19th with time and broadcast information to be announced at a later date.

A portion of every ticket that was sold will be donated to the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic at UNC Children’s Hospital. The donation, with the sell-out crowd, is expected to exceed $150,000.

This is an exciting event for the UNC football program and the University of North Carolina as a whole, as a different brand of football will spotlight in Kenan Stadium.

It’s not every day that two historic football clubs take the field against each other, especially in the United States, as Chapel Hill is set to be the proud host of what should be an exciting game for the fans to experience in person.
