Antoine Green became the second UNC football wide receiver drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions.

After spending five seasons in Chapel Hill as part of an impressive receiving core and an offense that spent most of his time ranked at the top of the country in several offensive categories, Antoine Green is going to get his chance at the professional level.

Green was drafted on day three of the 2023 NFL Draft in the seventh round by the Detroit Lions with the 219th pick. During his time with the UNC football program, Green played in 48 games and started in 24 of them. He really made an impact during his senior season in 2021, starting in all thirteen games at wide receiver, and was the second leading receiver in the ACC averaging 19.7 yards per catch.

Before his final season, he suffered an upper-body injury in the preseason and missed the first three games of the season. He still led the Tar Heels with 18.5 yards per catch and was second on the team in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and receiving yards per game. He was third-team All-ACC in 2022 and also had the game-winning touchdown catch versus Duke last season.

Green will be joining a Lions receiving corps of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Jones Jr, and Josh Reynolds. Jared Goff is the current Lions quarterback, however, they drafted former Tennessee QB, Hendon Hooker in the third round of this year’s draft. We look forward to seeing Green get his chance at the next level and keep up with all Pro Heels.

Green becomes the third Tar Heel selected in this year’s draft, all coming on the offensive side of the ball. Asim Richards and Josh Downs were previous players drafted.
