UNC Football: Ray Vohasek selected in seventh round
By Jordan Falls
Former UNC Football defensive lineman Raymond Vohasek was selected in the seventh round by the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2023 NFL Draft.
Raymond Vohasek became the fourth UNC football player selected in the 2023 NFL Draft and the third selected on day three of the draft. He is the first Tar Heel defensive player selected in this year’s draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Vohasek in the seventh round with the 227th pick.
After spending his freshman season at a junior college, Vohasek spent four seasons in Chapel Hill, having a large impact. He started in all 29 games he appeared in during his final three seasons as a Tar Heel. He suffered a season-ending upper-body injury against Virginia during his last year.
During his time as a Tar Heel, he made All-ACC honorable mention twice (2020 and 2021). After being very versatile during his high school career playing at six different positions, he spent all of his time along the defensive line.
For a guy who wasn’t even planning on playing college football at first, this is a great story of how hard work and dedication pays off. Although his final college season was cut short, Vohasek will have the opportunity to once again take the field, this time in the National Football League.
If his story up to this point tells us anything, it’s reminding us to never count this young man out. He always finds a way to prove everyone wrong.
