UNC Baseball’s offense comes to life, wins mid-week game
By Jordan Falls
The UNC baseball program got back in the win column with their mid-week matchup against UNC-Wilmington and the offense got the bats going again.
The UNC baseball program had the offense on full display at The Bosh on Tuesday night versus in-state opponent UNC-Wilmington. After a week, and then some, of the offense not capitalizing on runners in scoring position and being able to drive in runs, the Carolina offense finally came through against the Seahawks.
The Tar Heels had fifteen runs after four innings of play. Mac Horvath had a three-run home run in the first and second inning giving him six RBIs in his first two plate appearances and another multi-home run game.
Horvath finished three-for-four with eight RBIs and three runs scored. Max Carlson also saw some action out of the bullpen since he was moved from the starting rotation over the weekend. Carlson pitched two innings, collecting one strikeout and giving up one run on one hit.
Another highlight of the night was Casey Cook who kept his on-base streak alive by reaching base on two walks and two hit by pitches.
Pretty impressive stat for Cook and in good company with former Diamond Heels alumni. Not only is it nice to see the offense get going, but the pitching staff did their job and held the Seahawks to just two runs throughout the evening. Carolina got the win 18-2.
Next up for the Tar Heels will be heading to Virginia Tech and the weekend Friday-Saturday-Sunday series and looking to keep that momentum going from last night’s game over the Seahawks.
