Previewing the upcoming week for North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics for the week of April 24, 2023, thru April 30, 2023.
It’s a light week of upcoming action for UNC athletics as we’re to that time of year in the spring when most everyone has wrapped up action on the field.
Baseball: The Diamond Heels are looking to get back on the right track after being swept by Boston College over the weekend and have lost five of their last seven. They will start the week wrapping up a nine-game homestand vs UNC-Wilmington at The Bosh tonight at 6 PM. You can watch it on ACC Network Extra.
Following the game with the Seahawks, Carolina will head north to Blacksburg, Virginia for an ACC coastal division matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies. After being swept by the Eagles, the Tar Heels have dropped below .500 in ACC play at 9-10. The Tar Heels desperately need to get back in the win column to avoid dropping any farther in the ACC seeding as they only have three ACC series remaining (@ Virginia Tech, vs NC State, and @ Clemson).
The Tar Heels will play Virginia Tech Friday-Saturday-Sunday with the first two games at 7 PM and the series finale at 1 PM. Friday and Sunday will be on ACC Network Extra while Saturday night will be on the ACC Network.
Women’s Lacrosse: The Tar Heels begin post-season play on Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina at the ACC Tournament. Carolina earned the no. 3 seed in the ACC this season and will face no. 6 seed Clemson in the Quarterfinal round at 6:30 PM on ACC Network. The Tar Heels beat Clemson earlier this season in Chapel Hill 17-8. The Tigers are in their inaugural season and finished the season with a 12-5 overall record and 4-5 in ACC play.
Softball: The Tar Heels are on a winning streak of five games over the past week and will look to keep that going this week. They will start the mid-week off with a non-conference game versus Charlotte on Wednesday at 6 PM in Chapel Hill. Then they will head to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech for a three-game weekend series for the last ACC series of the year. The Tar Heels are 11-9 in the ACC and sixth in the conference, but could get as high as fifth for the conference tournament.
All games are on ACC Network Extra this week for the softball team except for the Saturday game against the Yellow Jackets, it will be on ACC Network.
