Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program have officially extended an offer to Brady Dunlap, a three-star recruit in the class of 2023.

At this point in the off-season, it is no secret for UNC basketball fans that the Tar Heels have many roster spots to fill. For the most part, we expect most of those replacements to come from the heavily focused transfer portal, which doesn’t officially close until May 12th.

Most of the high school recruits for the class of 2023 have already committed to where they will be playing basketball next winter. There are only four players in the top 100 ranked by 247Sports who have not signed an NLI yet.

Even with the small group of high school players remaining, Hubert Davis has extended a scholarship offer to Brady Dunlap.

Dunlap is a three-star recruit from Studio City, California who is six-foot-seven and the no. 128th player in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports. Dunlap was recently committed to the University of Notre Dame, but after the announcement that Mike Brey would be stepping down as head coach, he requested a release from his NLI from the Fighting Irish.

Dunlap recently visited Michigan at the beginning of the month and is expected to make visits to Villanova, St. John’s, and Nebraska in the coming weeks. He has also scheduled an official visit to Chapel Hill in two weeks.

His height and ability to play at the small forward position can certainly help UNC basketball fill a need for 2023-2024, and beyond. Several analysts have described Dunlap as a wing player who has a pure outside shot.

The UNC basketball roster currently has four open scholarship spots available for 2023-2024. Can we expect all four of those players to come out of the portal? Or is diving into the remaining available high school prospects for next season a necessity?
