UNC Women’s Basketball contacts highly rated transfer

Courtney Banghart and the UNC Women’s basketball program continue to look in the transfer portal to replace players from the 2022-2023 team.
The UNC women’s basketball team had a great season that ended in disappointment during the second round of the NCAA tournament, falling at the buzzer to No. 3-seeded Ohio State.
Just a few days later, the Tar Heels lost two players to the transfer portal.
Courtney Banghart is actively looking to replace those players and add talent and depth to the 2023-2024 roster as players across the country enter the transfer portal daily. There have been several top players who have entered the portal, some as a surprise (Hailey Van Lith) to most of the women’s college basketball fanbase.
One of those top players is DePaul forward Aneesah Morrow. According to Alexa Philippou with ESPN, Morrow has heard from many schools, including the Tar Heels.
As Philippou noted, Morrow has been one of the top scorers in the country in the last two seasons. Morrow averaged 25.7 points per game during her sophomore season with the Blue Demons last season and finished fourth in the country in scoring.
Morrow will be a rising junior with two years of eligibility remaining and is not eligible for the 2024 WNBA draft because she will not turn 22 until 2025. Any school would be lucky to have Morrow, but the Tar Heels could most definitely benefit from her joining Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program next season. She would be able to replace the production lost from Kennedy Todd-Williams and Destiny Adams entering the transfer portal.
We will stay tuned and continue to update if the Tar Heels gain traction during the recruitment of one of the top players in the transfer portal this off-season.
