UNC Basketball: Caleb Love announces future school
By Jordan Falls
Former UNC Basketball guard, Caleb Love has announced where he will continue his collegiate basketball career in 2023-2024.
Caleb Love entered the transfer portal just eleven days ago on March 27th. After being linked to having mutual interests with Big Ten powerhouse Indiana, Love has decided to continue playing at another Big Ten school.
Love will now attend Michigan. After a disappointing 18-16 2022-2023 season, the Wolverines are looking for a bounce-back season. Michigan was on the bubble of the 2023 NCAA Tournament and in the same position as the Tar Heels were when Selection Sunday came around. Unlike the Tar Heels, Juwaun Howard’s team opted to play in the NIT, winning one game before losing to Vanderbilt.
Love faced Michigan last season in Charlotte during the Jumpman Invitational where he and Hunter Dickinson, along with other players from both teams, got into a scuffle doing the game. Love scored 18 points on 6-13 shooting in that game.
Love averaged 32.8 minutes per game during his time in Chapel Hill and 14.6 points per game. However, he wasn’t the most efficient scorer, hitting at a 36% rate from the field at 31.7% from three-point range across three seasons.
For Carolina fans, it’s bittersweet to see Love play in another uniform. Unfortunately, he was never consistent for the Tar Heels, but regardless he will forever be known for one of the top-five biggest shots in UNC Basketball history in New Orleans at the Final Four last season.
Love and the Wolverines could see the Tar Heels during the 2023-2024 regular season. Both schools are scheduled to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the popular pre-season Thanksgiving Tournament.
Love will have two seasons of eligibility remaining as he enters his senior season and has his COVID year if he chooses to utilize it. We wish Caleb the best at Michigan as he finishes out his collegiate career.
