A recap of the previous week for North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics for the week of March 27, 2023, thru April 2, 2023.

Baseball: The Diamond Heels entered the week ranked 13th in the country, but continued to show their weakness. The Tar Heels led No. 19 Coastal Carolina 7-4 after 7 innings of action in Chapel Hill in a mid-week game. However, the pitching just couldn’t hold off the Chanticleers, giving up eight runs in the top of the 8th and the Tar Heels lost 12-7.

Check out our recap of the weekend series versus Notre Dame later today.

Women’s Lacrosse: The Tar Heels took on #12 Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday. Unfortunately, UNC lost 16-12 and could just never stop the Irish. It is the second regular season loss for the Tar Heels and the first time that Carolina has lost more than two games in a season since 2019 when they lost four. The Tar Heels are now 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the ACC.

Men’s Golf: The Tar Heels won the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Florida early in the week giving them their fourth team win of the season. They are now ranked #3 in the country heading into The Calusa Cup tournament in Naples, Florida.

Men’s Tennis: UNC had two home matches over the weekend. The #11 ranked Tar Heels dropped the first of the two matches on Friday to rival NC State, 4-1. On Sunday, the Tar Heels faced Wake Forest and picked up a 4-3 win.

Women’s Tennis: The #1 ranked Tar Heels continued their dominance this week moving their record to 24-0 on the season and 10-0 in the conference after defeating Florida State 6-1 and Miami 5-2 in Chapel Hill.
