UNC Basketball transfer target Nicolas Timberlake has an official visit to Chapel Hill in the upcoming week.
Head Coach Hubert Davis has been targeting Nick Timberlake to join the UNC Basketball program since the guard transfer from Towson entered his name in the transfer portal on March 9th. Last week, Coach Davis and Coach (Brad) Frederick made a visit to see Timberlake for an in-home visit.
Now, the recruiting process has progressed to an official visit on campus for the 6’4″ guard.

It is expected that Timberlake will be on campus sometime within the next week. With several departures from the program, five players have entered the transfer portal, the Tar Heels have plenty of openings to fill before the 2023-2024 season.
North Carolina currently has 5 open scholarship spots for next season. There is still uncertainty about the future of Seth Trimble, D’Marco Dunn, and Caleb Love and if they will choose to return next season or not.
Following Will Shaver's decision to transfer, here's North Carolina's updated scholarship availability:

Needless to say, Coach Davis has a lot of spots to fill before next season. Clearly, the Tar Heels would like for Timberlake to be one of those additions. How the other spots are filled, either via transfers, incoming recruits, or 2024 re-classifications, is still to be determined.
Nick Timberlake (6’4 SG, Towson) is a sick shooter. Lethal off the catch (1.26 PPP, 44.4%) and off of screens (21-55, 38.2%); uses screens exceptionally well, gets low and snug to keep his defender trailing, can sprint into his jumper from diff directions & footwork patterns. pic.twitter.com/rGk21MCXjY

Even though some fans may worry about bringing in a mid-major transfer from Towson, Timberlake would be a great addition to the 2023-2024 Tar Heels. A team that needs significantly increased production from the three-point line coming off last season, Timberlake shot 41% last season. Even if he doesn’t maintain that high level of performance, it would still help the Tar Heels to bring in some more consistency from beyond the arc.
We will continue to track Timberlake’s recruitment as it progresses.
