UNC Football target Jadyn Davis announced his top five schools Friday afternoon along with his commitment date.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program’s coaching staff have had much success recruiting the Charlotte, North Carolina area since returning, especially when it comes to quarterbacks.

When Brown returned for his second stint in Chapel Hill, one of his first big recruits was flipping Sam Howell from Florida State to North Carolina.

Howell was a 4-star commit from Monroe, North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte. Next, he flipped current star QB Drake Maye from Alabama. Maye was a 4-star commit from Charlotte.

While Maye still has two years of eligibility remaining if he wishes to use it, the assumption is that this will be his final year as a Tar Heel as he is projected to be a top pick in next year’s 2024 NFL Draft.

Now, the Tar Heels are targeting another top quarterback from the Charlotte area. Jadyn Davis announced via his personal Twitter page on Friday that he was down to his top five schools and UNC is among those.

Davis is a five-star recruit from Providence Day high school. According to 247Sports, Davis is ranked as the 28th player nationally and the No. 2 ranked QB in the country in the class of 2024. The Tar Heels are competing against Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, and Tennessee for the star QB.

Since returning to Chapel Hill in 2019, the emphasis and priority on in-state recruiting have been high. If Coach Brown could land Davis in Chapel Hill it would go a long way to solidifying that. While we have another year of Maye at QB, the 2024 depth chart at the position looks very uncertain. Davis could possibly come in and have an immediate impact just as Howell did his freshman year.

Also per his Twitter page, Davis will announce where he is going to be attending next Friday, March 31st, at 1:30 PM on SportsCenter.
