The UNC Basketball program received news on Friday that their top recruit in the class of 2024 is staying committed to coming to Chapel Hill.

In the last several weeks, there has been plenty of uncertainty around the UNC basketball program which has seen four players already enter the transfer portal. Earlier this week, rumors began to swirl that the No. 5 recruit ranked by 247Sports in the class of 2024, Ian Jackson could possibly be de-committing from the program.

There have been several fans who speculate the five-star recruit could be looking at attending St. John’s under new head coach, Rick Pitino, who was scheduled to visit Jackson’s high school next week.

Jackson addressed those rumors on Friday morning and put them to bed.

Tar Heel fans will certainly rejoice at hearing this news. Jackson, a shooting guard from the Bronx, is the highest-rated recruit in the class of 2024 for North Carolina which is currently ranked No. 1 by 247Sports. He will plan to join Elliot Cadeau, Drake Powell, and James Brown in Chapel Hill for the 2024-2025 season.
