Since the transfer portal opened at midnight on March 13th, the UNC basketball program is looking to replace some departures and develop some depth. Paxson Wojcik becomes the latest player to hear from the Tar Heels.

As the UNC Basketball program has players both graduating and entering the transfer portal, the Tar Heels begin to look forward to the 2023-2024 basketball season and beyond.

Head Coach Hubert Davis has spoken several times about improving depth and consistency this season. Most recently, on his radio show this past week.

"“I always believe that you have to have that depth. And when I talk about depth, it’s not just the number of guys, it’s the number of guys out there on the floor that are consistently playing consistent minutes and coming off the bench. And that’s something that I really want to do coming up next year.”"

As reported by Joe Tipton, Paxson Wojcik has entered the transfer portal and the UNC basketball program has reportedly reached out to him about coming to Chapel Hill.

Wojcik is a graduate transfer from Brown university and will be entering his 5th collegiate season. Wherever he decides to attend next season, it will be his third school as he spent his first two seasons at Loyola Chicago coming off the bench for the Ramblers.

Over the last two seasons, Wojcik has played, and started, every game for Brown. He averaged 14.9 points per game in his senior season and shot 38% from beyond the arc while also rebounding at a high rate for a guard, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.

For reference, that would have been good for the second-leading rebounder for UNC in 2022-2023 behind only Armando Bacot.

With  Dontrez Styles and Tyler Nickel entering the transfer portal this week, the coaching staff appears to be hitting the recruiting trail hard in an effort to replace them. Who the Tar Heels get out of the portal will be a topic all off-season. The fanbase and the program were spoiled with the signing of Brady Manek two years ago who came in and had a major impact.

We all want to see an impactful transfer choose to come to Chapel Hill next season. Could that be Paxson Wojcik?
