UNC Basketball: Keeping It Heel Staff Picks @ Notre Dame

The UNC basketball team is back on the road, needing to get back on track to keep their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

The UNC basketball regular season has just four games left, and the Tar Heels are firmly on the outside looking in of the NCAA Tournament picture.  If Carolina is going to have any shot of salvaging their season, it will have to begin in South Bend on Wednesday night.  Notre Dame has been one of the worst teams in the ACC thus far, but UNC has struggled to beat anyone away from Chapel Hill.  Will the Tar Heels be able to turn the page and keep their slim at-large bid hopes alive against the Fighting Irish?  Find out what our staff thinks below!

Yes, the UNC basketball program hasn’t given us much as of late, but I really do think this group can win this game.

I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt: I think they come ready to play on Wednesday night.

Prediction: North Carolina 84, Notre Dame 77

It’s hard to expect much from UNC given what we’ve seen lately.

The Tar Heels have lost five of their last six games, and don’t seem to have the killer instinct required to put teams away.  Carolina is more talented, but Notre Dame is on their home floor and has the ability to light it up from deep.

This is a game that the Heels should win if they are in the right mindset and can put forty solid minutes together.  Unfortunately, this year’s UNC team has made a habit of losing games they should win.

Prediction: Notre Dame 78, North Carolina 72

I will admit, I have lost faith in this UNC team.

Actually, I lost faith a few games ago and honestly thought they would finish the season 2-6. This was one of the two games I thought they would win.

It won’t be easy because it never is. Its a game they should win but even those have been difficult lately. I’ll stand by my pick.

Prediction: North Carolina 73, Notre Dame 70

At this point, UNC will have to win the ACC Tournament in order to be a part of March Madness. The team’s offense has faltered for large portions of games lately, most recently costing them against NC State.

Armando Bacot hasn’t been used as much lately, so look for the Heels to try and feed him in this one.

Prediction: North Carolina 73, Notre Dame 69
