UNC Women’s Basketball set to host Boston College this Sunday
By Drew Garrett
The No. 14 North Carolina Tar Heels look to bounce back this Sunday when they take on the Boston College Eagles at Carmichael Arena.
After playing four of their last five on the road, the UNC women’s basketball team returns to Carmichael Arena. This Sunday, they are set to take on the Boston College Eagles.
BC has had a rough 2022-2023 season. They sit at 14-13, and 4-10 in conference play. The Eagles are also in the midst of a big losing stretch, having lost eight of their last nine.
This is what North Carolina needs.
After losing back-to-back close road games, the Tar Heels need a much-needed win. This Sunday at home should be a great opportunity.
Here is what North Carolina will need to do to pick up a win.
Key To Victory
The Tar Heels need to be very aggressive defensively.
Boston College is not good at handling any pressure. In their last game against No. 9 Duke, BC turned the ball over 25 times en route to a 68-27 loss.
If North Carolina can replicate what Duke did last Thursday, they should have a huge advantage.
Offensively, the Tar Heels need to feed the hot hand.
After Deja Kelly’s 32 points last game, UNC should feed her the ball as much as they can to start off this Sunday’s game.
If North Carolina can do both of these things, they will likely come out with a much-needed win at home.
Something To Watch
In their last two games, North Carolina has struggled offensively.
This season, UNC averages 71.8 points per game. However, in their last two, they have only scored an average of 61.
This Sunday should be a perfect opportunity to bounce back.
The Tar Heels will be back home, and Boston College regularly gives up 70+ points. These two factors should contribute heavily to a strong performance from UNC.
Last Meeting
In the last meeting between these two programs, UNC knocked off BC in a very close game. The Tar Heels were able to continue their perfect start to the 2021-22 season with a 76-73 victory.
Carlie Littlefield was the star for North Carolina, scoring 22 points. Deja Kelly was not far behind with 19.
The win continued UNC’s dominance all-time over Boston College, as they lead the all-time series 14-4.
