The UNC women’s basketball program looks to win their seventh straight when they take on Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum.

After escaping Pittsburgh with a win, the UNC women’s basketball program looks to pick up their second straight road win this Sunday against the Clemson Tigers.

Although Clemson has struggled this year, they have made their home court a difficult place to win at. In ACC play, the Tigers are 2-1 at home, with their one loss coming to No. 7 Notre Dame by 3-points.

However, the Tar Heels are rolling.

Last Thursday, North Carolina picked up their sixth-straight win and improved to fourth place in the ACC. Knocking off this squad will be very difficult for the Tigers.

To pick up their seventh straight this Sunday, here is what North Carolina will need to do.

Key to Victory

To pick up another key road win, UNC will need to set the tone early.

In road games especially, North Carolina has often struggled to get off to an early lead. This keeps the opposing team and their crowd in the game, making it more difficult for the Tar Heels.

This problem occurred last week when Pitt led UNC at the half 33-29.

A strong start on both sides of the ball will help the Tar Heels dominate the Tigers.

Defensively, North Carolina should stay aggressive, closing out on shooters and forcing Clemson into uncomfortable situations.

On the offensive side, UNC needs to play their game. If they do what they have been doing all year, they will be alright.

Something to Watch

As of January 28, North Carolina is 4th in the ACC standings. After starting off 0-3 in conference play, the Tar Heels have made a huge turnaround.

After Sunday’s games, things could get even better for North Carolina too.

Florida State, who is 0.5 games ahead of UNC, has an extremely tough test Sunday. The Seminoles will host No. 16 Duke in a big-time ACC matchup.

A North Carolina win and a Florida State loss means the Tar Heels would move up to third in the conference.

While there is still plenty of basketball left to be played this season, this is an interesting storyline to follow while watching tomorrow’s games.

Last Meeting

The last meeting between these two teams was on January 2, 2022. North Carolina hosted and defeated Clemson 81-62.

Deja Kelly was fantastic in this one, scoring 31 points. Kennedy Todd-Williams and Alyssa Ustby also performed well, scoring 14 and 10.

The win helped UNC improve to 13-0, while Clemson fell to 6-8.

All time, North Carolina leads the all-time series 59-28.
